Meet the designer Anne-Claire Petre

Anaca studio began in early 2012 when, after 11 years of industry experience, I decided to finally bring my sketchbooks to life through an inspiring range of eco-friendly, locally made furniture.

Studies in industrial and furniture design took me from France to Scotland and to a design-making associateship at the Jamfactory in Adelaide. Along the way I developed my understanding of good design, materials and processes. In Melbourne, working for a few well-known furniture companies and a couple of architecture and interior design studios gave me some valuable insight into the industry. What lies behind the brand is a passion for design principles, a belief that simplicity of forms and thoughtful details are essential to creating beautiful and lasting products.

Although the sole designer and principal of anaca studio, I want to acknowledge my manufacturers without whose artisanship the products would not exist. I also thank everyone else involved with IT, graphics, website, photography etc. “We” are anaca studio.

Philosophy

Beautiful pieces are for everyone. Anaca studio is proud to create inspiring furniture that is built to last. We believe in a “less is more” way of life. By investing in well made, honest products, we can meet our basic needs in a beautiful way. Adding to landfill is not our aim, not in business and not in life. We build finely crafted furniture that have integrity and that you would be proud to own, use in your everyday life and pass on to the next generation.

What we do

anaca studio offers a range of furniture and accessories using responsibly sourced timbers and other sustainable materials & finishes. Our aim is to create a collection of beautiful and practical pieces that are also versatile and can easily fit in all interiors. Made to order in Melbourne, each piece is completely unique and will suit many residential or commercial interiors. Our lead-time is around 6-8 weeks.

Custom Furniture & Commissions

We understand that our range of furniture may not always meet the particular requirements of a specific project. Custom designs can be based on some our existing products where colours, finishes and sizes can be adapted to suit the project’s brief. We can also create a completely bespoke design from a particular brief. Lead-times are project dependent.

How we do it

Much thinking, sketching, 3D modelling, material research, and manufacturing considerations go into each and every product of the range. Each item is refined until we are satisfied not only with the details and proportions of a design but also with the quality of fabrication and finishes. Some products then go into prototyping then production whilst others stay in our “vault”.
